a royal legacy

Jodhpur Polo

Jodhpur's association with polo dates to the late 19th century, when British officers stationed in India introduced the sport to the local aristocracy. The game quickly captured the interest of the royal family of Jodhpur, particularly Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh, an enthusiastic polo player and patron. His dedication to the sport laid the foundation for Jodhpur's enduring polo tradition.

The formal Jodhpur Polo Season began to take shape in the mid-20th century under the patronage of Maharaja Hanwant Singh. The majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace, constructed during this period, became a central venue for polo matches, drawing players and spectators from across the globe.
